Text: Afrikaans. Thin booklet issued by the Shell Company of South Africa Limited advertising the use of Pennant paraffin as a wonderful aid in the housewife’s kitchen. Forward by Mrs Pitte who collected these well-known and not so well-known traditional recipes from all over the country and compiled them into a booklet under the heading “Voortrekker” Resepte”. Each page has a small vignette drawing in blue ink depicting Voortrekker life, eg. sitting around a fire, travelling with ox-wagon, hunting, playing musical instruments as well as a modern-day woman utilising Pennant paraffin. Illustrated rear cover shows a Voortrekker family around a campfire with their wagons under a moonlit night. Small stain on Pages 8 to12. Some grubby marks on the verso of rear cover. 19 Pages.
