A first edition copy of the author’s important feminist work. Inscribed on the free end paper: “Mrs Miller from Olive Schreiner. With love & many thanks for all your kindness. De Aar May 4th 1911.” Blue cloth covered boards with gilt titles to the front board and spine. Some light edge wear and a stain to the rear board. Tissue repair to the gutter at the front fep. Inscribed copies of Schreiner’s books are scarce and although Story of an African Farm is her best known work, Woman and Labour is perhaps more important in terms of how history sees this author, activist and political figure.
