Who would have been aware that Voortrekker settlers lived in the area of Sandton, Johannesburg in the first half of the 19th Century. And a few kilometres north would be a few isolated farmers. From personal knowledge, the author describes the quaint and amusing conditions when milk was delivered by van and the telephone exchange was happy to take messages for the lady next door. Over 100 delightful old photographs many of which were taken during the 1890s by one of the original settlers, Max Weber. 1st Edition. Condition: Good to very good. Dust jacket: Good. Edge-wear with small abrasions to the folds. Light foxing to the verso. Binding: Hardcover. Some light edge-wear.
