Large 8vo, illustrated with 17 fine hand coloured aquatint views. Engraved map of the glaciers of the canton of Berne after Meyer as frontis, tinted by hand in blue. viii, 120 pages. Includes an account of the first ascent of Jungfrau and Finsteraarhorn by the Meyer brothers in 1812 (p.60) The first book edition of this travelogue, which originally appeared in Ackermann’s Repository of the Arts, series 2, volumes XI to XIII. Finely bound in full dark morocco with tooling to the boards and raised bands to the spine. Part of the spine label is missing but text “OBERLAND” still intact.
