A calotype print with hand title:” View taken at Fish Hoek, near Simonstown.” Looking North West from Fish Hoek beach showing the former barn of Fish Hoek Farm. With the extension of the railway from Kalk Bay to Simons Town in 1890, Fish Hoek became a popular holiday destination. The owners of Fish Hoek Farm capitalised on this, turning their barn and other out-buildings into holiday accommodation. Possible monogram of the photographer “EHS” to bottom right border. Condition: Good. A clear bright image. There is a repaired crack through the top left hand side of the image, now stable and some foxing to the border. Backing board has been reinforced. Image size: 36 x 28cm.
