An original field survey manuscript map drawn around 1880 showing many unexplored ranges. The area shown is boarded by Sutherland Gold Belt in the north; Portuguese Territory to the east; the Olifants River and Wood Bush Gold Belt in the south and Marabastad to the west. It is likely the work of either Friedrich Jeppe as the handwriting and style match his surveys well. Or it may be the work of JΓΌrgen Stahl, the German geologist who focused on the Murchison Range. The copious geological notes point to his authorship. Much of the geological info written in red ink has faded. Travelling routes also shown in red along with travel notesl. Many early claims are noted. On light paper with a few burn holes; tape marks and some fading. Size: 144x 78cm. Condition: Good.
Date Published: C.1888
