The first two volumes are scarce first editions published in 1931 after the Ninth German Inner Africa Research Expedition. These cover rock art in Southern Africa. Numerous plates with tissue guards, text in German. Rebound in half leather bindings and white end papers, 1 section loose in volume 1. The other two volumes, published in 1963 and 1965 are based in the information gathered during the tenth Expedition. Also first editions, these cover the wider African continent.
