Some tape marks to the endpapers and foxing to the plates and tissue guards. Although Bryden is named as the editor of this work, it was Richard Lydekker who was the driving force behind it. He is named a contributor along with 24 others, the leading men in this field at that time. “A sumptuous Victorian-era work that details scientific knowledge of African big game and is highlighted by numerous hunting adventures from its host of contributors.
