Portfolio of plates only. An additional text volume was published and is available online. 90 plates, mainly chromolithographs with letterpress tissue guards. Stamp of the Colonial Bergbau Gesellschaft – Kolmanskuppe and the first 3 plates. Kolmanskop was the German mining town established when diamonds were found in the area in 1908. By the early 1920’s the town was in sharp decline and in 1928 when rich diamond deposits were found on the banks of the Orange River 270 km away, there was a complete demise. Today it is a famous landmark “ghost town” and tourist destination in Namibia, former German South West Africa. New cloth spine to the portfolio and the bottom folding flap is new.
