This map is the only map of Africa by Dr. Johann(es) Reinoldus Forster, the famous and controversial naturalist who accompanied Capt. James Cook’s Second Voyage and visited the Cape of Good Hope in 1772 and 1775. “Examples of this map are known to exist in only a few institutions: two in the USA and four in Germany.” Very good condition with original hand colour.
