Het Nieuwe Testament ofte alle Boeken des Nieuwen Verbonts onzes Heeren Jesu Christi… ( published 1832), bound together with Het Boek der Psalmen, nevens de Gezangen bij de Hervormde Kerk van Nederland (published 1837) and Evangelische Gezangen om nevens Het Boek der Psalmen bij de Nederlandsche Hervormde Gemeenten gebruikt te Worden; op Uitdrukkelijken Last van Allade Synoden der Voornoemde Gemeenten. (published 1835). Bound in full grained red Morocco with gilt tooling and gilt to all page edges. The two clasps and four corners are gilded Cape silver. The clasps bear the maker’s mark “ICL” for Johannes Casparus Lotter (1768 – 1824). He was active in Cape Town at 75, Loop Street from 1811 – 1824. (Heller, A History of Cape Silver 1700 – 1870). The inside of the lower clasp bears the engraved name of M.E. Wahl. Condition, very good. Foxing and some crimping to the binding from the clasps. The clasps are bright with some wear to the gilding from polishing. Some scratches to the leather on the back board.
