Full calf binding by John L. Jaffray of Graham’s Town.(Grahamstown). With his label to the front pastedown. Hradpiece of the spine is missing, otherwise binding is tight. Two school stamps and pervious owner’s signatures. Some staining to the endpapers and age toning to the pages but overall in very good condition. Top edge of title page trimmed. The author was a member of British parliament for the Radicals – amongst other things, at one stage he fled to France and then North America to escape the consequenses of some of his radical actions. first edition very good hardcover
