Rubin was charged with blasphemy in 1962 after exhibiting a painting "My Jesus" depicting a nude black figure with the head of a monster. The exhibition was shut down by the police. Rubin was acquitted of the blasphemy charge in 1963 and left South Africa shortly afterwards for Israel. There he continued creating visual art as a critique and commentary on the military aspect of Israeli society as early as the 1960's. His caustic Hommage to Rabbi Kahane which portrayed the ultra nationalistic Rabbi Meir Kahane as a Jewish Nazi, was pulled from the wall by a member of the Knesset, where it was exhibited at a Haifa gallery in 1985. Some wear and stains to the portfolio. All 6 images unblemished. |~CSV~||~CSV~|1600|~CSV~|Africana|~CSV~|Art & Architecture (South African)|~CSV~|a|~CSV~|Africana;Art & Architecture (South African);Apartheind|~CSV~||~CSV~||~CSV~||~CSV~||~CSV~|Print|~CSV~|Good|~CSV~||~CSV~||~CSV~|21 x 26cm|~CSV~|N|~CSV~||~CSV~|Y|~CSV~||~CSV~||~CSV~|N|~CSV~||~CSV~|ApartheindTag:
